WORLD FOREST DAY

This is probably a very fruit full month for IDEAS FOR UGANDA. On 21/o3/2013, the Makerere chapter participated in the World Forest Day celebrations which was organized by the Forest Association of Makerere University ( FAMU) in partnership with Environmental Alert. I am happy that despite the fact that IDEAS is a young and upcoming movement in the country, we were recognized and joined hands with the National Forestry Authority ( NFA) and already established Organizations like Environmental Alert.

The celebrations began with the march from Makerere university freedom square, to Wandegeya business center, then Mulago National Referral hospital where IDEAS planted the IDEAS tree. This is one of our greatest achievements since our establishment in Uganda late last year.

• We also participated in the public dialog at the school of forestry, environmental and geographical sciences which involved speakers from the the wildlife Society of Uganda, the media, The executive director of NFA among other dignitaries. Though we were not among the panelists, our participation was recognized and highly appreciated. Most importantly, IDEAS recruited many new members that day.I am sure the family will never stop growing.
