In a spirited meeting at Makerere University Guild offices, the leaders of the different environmental and community associations discussed strategies of how to create a “Makerere United” association for leaders of environmental associations to create a platform for bargaining, capacitybuilding, and leveraging, fundraising and collective action.

Under this arrangement, the representatives of the different associations on the’ Makerere united’ committee will be open to funding opportunities,  joint project development and implementation and have an avenue for mobilizing university students on a common cause. The major development areas will be Katanga slums, Kasubi suburb, Bwaise and Kikoni where plastic management, waste management through briquettes manufacture, micro-gardening, clean energy among other initiatives will be given priority for the start.
